Our Advocacy Coordinator, Bri Full, and Urban Development Coordinator, Clarice Dombeck, recently hosted three Listening Sessions at the Fabric Lab to gather feedback from community members, community leaders, and organizational leaders regarding their highest needs related to Housing Justice, Environmental Justice, and Mobility Justice.
12-06-23 - Mobility Justice Listening Session held at Fabric Lab.
We partnered with UNO’s Social Justice and Social Change students to collect and analyze the feedback. We will use it to inform Spark’s 2024 policy and advocacy strategy – centering the community’s voice at the heart of our work.
Infill Housing Concepts
During Native Omaha Days, Fabric Lab brought together a fantastic group of community members for A Place Called Home: A Housing Design Workshop. This listening session was intended to create community-informed housing designs that reflect the quality of life and livability needs of local residents. Together, we explored what missing-middle infill housing could look like for renters and homeowners in North Omaha. Through that experience, and in partnership with DeOld Andersen Architecture, we have a set of innovative design concepts intended to support both emerging and experienced developers from our community and beyond.
The entire Spark team wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to long-time Spark Board member, Andrea Kathol of Field Day Development. Andrea’s dedication, wisdom, and vision have helped to guide Spark for the past six years. Andrea's commitment has been an invaluable asset, shaping our journey toward community empowerment and growth.
Andrea’s leadership has left an indelible mark on our mission, and her contributions will be cherished as we continue striving to make a meaningful impact in our communities.
THANK YOU, ANDREA!
We're honored to receive a Front Porch Investments Development and Preservation Fund award, made possible through a matching partnership with the City of Omaha. This recognition fuels our work to help profoundly transform disinvested neighborhoods into prosperous and thriving communities through capacity-building and investment in new and emerging real estate developers.
